What is America SCORES Bay Area (ASBA)? Since 2001, Bay Area SCORES has inspired youth,"Poet-Athletes", to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to shape change in their communities. The innovative model and team-based approach improve participants' health, increase academic engagement, and promote community engagement. The core offerings include the following.
Soccer builds teamwork, leadership, and commitment on the field translate to success in the classroom and measurable impact in the community.
Writing workshops help students express themselves creatively and improve their literacy skills. They develop their voices, share personal stories, and create original poetry.
Service-learning semester-long projects help youth become agents of change in their communities as they work together to design, develop, and implement their projects.

Why am I raising funds for America SCORES Bay Area? I'm raising funds for ASBA because it is a unique organization where I have worked for over 7 years. I am proud to be part of the SCORES team, which provides opportunities that otherwise may not be available to undeserved youth in the Bay Area and beyond. I see first hand the IMPACT Bay Area SCORES has on the youth! The funds raised will benefit the Poet-Athletes and programming, including year-round after-school enrichment programs, Fields of Dreams, Girls in the Game, Independent Futbol Club (IFC), SCORES Go!, and Youth Coaches Academy.
After years of being an avid runner, completing many 10ks, half marathons, and the 2006 SF Full Marathon, I decided to get back into running shape for a cause that is close to my heart. My knees and endurance aren't what they used to be, but the lure of running for America SCORES Bay Area has me back pounding the pavement!

America SCORES Bay Area
America SCORES Bay Area proudly provides over 5000 children in under served communities at 90 Bay Area low-income elementary and middle schools out-of-school time programming. Programming includes soccer, poetry, and service learning. SCORES plans continued growth of 20% per year. The driving passion is to provide more support and opportunities to children who need it and can benefit the most. VISION- SCORES believes all kids should experience joy, a sense of belonging, and be well-prepared to navigate the future. SCORES believes in a Bay Area rich with meaningful opportunities for all children: teams to play on, outlets for creative and physical expression, and pathways to develop their voices. MISSION- America SCORES empowers its “poet-athletes” to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged and collaborative students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.
